The EPro 8 Challenge is a competition, an engineering and problem solving race. Teams of four are based at a workstation containing an impressive assortment of easy to use parts and equipment. Teams choose challenges they wish to undertake. The harder the challenge the more points it is worth. There is not enough time to finish all the challenges – so strategy is required to know which ones to go for.
Casebrook had two EPro 8 teams entered in last Wednesday night's competition at Cobham Intermediate School - The Eevees and Casebrook Whizzes. The Eeves were Jorja Sinclair-Fearn, Emma Bailey, Ryan Maule and Nathaniel Kilpatrick. The Casebrook Whizzes were Rosemary Webber, Lara Donaldson-Scott, Maia Jeffs and Hamish Morgan. Both teams had nail-biting performances.
The aim is to get as many points as possible in the tight time frame of 2 hours and 30 minutes. Students need to choose and plan tasks wisely as the time flies by!
The Eevees were just shy of a semi-final place by only 10 points as they scrambled to get a switch to work in the dying moments of the competition. So close!
Overall, both teams did incredibly well. Thank you very much to the students who made up the two teams. The way in which they showed our school values of respect, excellence and perseverance is to be commended - especially our perseverance value!
Thanks must also go to our parents who came and supported their children. We appreciate the time you gave up to assist us in giving our students another new opportunity and experience.
