Casebrook Young Leaders Excel.
Last week we had a group of 23 young leaders attend a two day camp facilitated by the Papanui Youth Development Trust and financially supported by the Christchurch City Council. It was a fantastic personal growth opportunity for the students. Together they explored the features that contribute to successful leadership and then reflected on where they personally were within each of these criteria.
The two days ended with each student reporting to the group on what they had learnt and what they will share with their class. The facilitators were impressed with how well the students conducted themselves and their high levels of cooperation and engagement.
On Monday night two of the students reported on their experience to the Board of Trustees. Having students involved with the Board is a new initiative with the purpose of keeping the board well informed around student opinion.
The Well Being of students is an important priority in our school. Mr Nick Leith has facilitated the following groups, all of which offer a range of skills and confidence building opportunities for the students involved.
Te Pihi Ora, Tama Tu Ora, and Mana Wahine are all run by Te Ora Hou youth workers and the DARE programme will be classroom based across the school.
This week the Year 7 students began their swimming programme. While back at school the Year 8 students have enjoyed the display from Rutherfords Den.
Please note in your diary that the first Dance Party for 2015 will held on Thursday 21 May here at school, the same day as the School Cross Country. Further information about each event can be found in the newsletter.
Thank you for your ongoing support and please remember that if you have any questions or concerns to contact the classroom teacher or myself.
