On Monday 16th November, Rm8 visited the Hohepa Trust in Halswell for a morning of gardening to give back to a deserving community.
We visited the Trust last year and were eager to return and reconnect with the residents and staff. Our job for the morning was to pull out all the weeds in their native garden, to allow for their plants to continue to flourish. The "biggest weed award" was up for grabs again this year, which was won by Thomas, Sahil and Jack who spent 20 minutes hacking away to ensure the weed came out, roots and all. Kaitlin and McKayla were lucky enough to be placed in the kitchen to help bake biscuits for all to share at morning tea time. A few friendly games of cricket with the residents were had to finish off what was a fantastic day. Thank you to our parent helpers who joined us on our trip and to Hohepa for having us!
