As part of our Heroes Inquiry unit, Room 1 headed out to Hohepa in Halswell to volunteer some of our time with the residents.
Hohepa is a community group who ensure physically and mentally disabled people are taught life lessons such as cooking and socialising. During our trip, we were able to meet the residents and get to know a bit about them as well as do some volunteer work. This included weeding their garden and digging holes to grow new plants in for the summer. After a well earned morning tea (thanks to the residents for the cake!), we were able to play a great game of cricket with the residents. We had an awesome morning at Hohepa and left with a great sense of achievement that we had helped out a needy group in our Christchurch community. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vBTj72ndz_w
