Mana Wahine is an all girls group which takes place at Casebook, Wednesday afternoons, to help build leadership skills and self confidence.
The group is about learning social skills and leadership to improve self confidence. Mana Wahine is defined as “woman of strength”.
Mana Wahine has been running at Casebrook for a number of years. Lately being run by Tatiana and Ella who are youth workers for Te Ora Hau.
We are going to interview some students who has recently participated in Mana Wahine.
Question 1. Did you you enjoy being in Mana Wahine and why?
Yes, I enjoyed it because I got to interact with new people and make new friendships.
Question 2. What benefited you from participating in Mana Wahine?
Mana Wahine helped me with suffering relationships and and to make new friendships.
Question 3. What were your favourite Mana Wahine moments?
Playing new games, making new friendships and meeting new people.
Question 4. Who was most supportive towards you in this group?
Tatiana was very helpful and friendly and l felt like l could talk to her about anything.
Question 5: Would you recommend Mana Wahine to others? Why?
Yes, because if you have trouble creating new friendships or holding friendships Mana Wahine is a great way to help you.
