This year our Girls Basketball team and two individual contestants represented Casebrook. The Basketball Girls were placed tenth in a pool of twenty-eight teams, Matthieu Rigter took part in Trampolining and was placed fourth and Imanuel Abdel Malak took part in the BMX racing. Wonderful achievements from all in a very competitive environment.
This week the Ministry of Education confirmed the refurbishment of our middle block of classrooms. The Library and Rooms 5-8, will begin at the end of this term. This is exciting news as the rooms are all prone to leaking and the interiors are original, making them over 50 years old.
The classes will be relocated into the following spaces.
Room 5 - Room 15
Room 6 - Art Room
Room 7 - Science Room
Room 8 - Room 13
Our Science and Art teachers will continue to deliver their programmes in the students homerooms.
The rooms and breakout spaces will remain very similar to what they are now but the Auditorium on the end of the Library will be demolished and there will be sliding doors between the classrooms.
We are confident there will be minimal disruption to classroom programmes as we are fortunate to have the spaces to accomodate everyone. The end results should be light, well ventilated learning spaces.
This years show, Aotearoa Bandstand, is the real focus for the remainder of the term. Please purchase your tickets as they are selling fast. On the mornings of Wednesday 27, Thursday 28 and Friday 29 students may start school at the later hour of 10.40am. This is in recognition of the fact the whole school is here for evening performances. However, there will always be teaching staff at school during normal school hours if you want your child to attend as normal.
We farewell Mrs Sarah Austin, who leaves us to have a child. We wish her and her husband all the very best. We welcome Mr John McBride into Room 8 for the remainder of the year.
The Term is drawing to a close and I would like to pass on a sincere thank you to our staff for providing the wide range of quality learning experiences available to our students. Their dedication and hard work is noted and very much appreciated.
Thanks very much to you, our community, for your on going support. There has been a great deal achieved this term and we are very proud of our students for their involvement and ability to self manage in such a busy environment. Have an enjoyable break and we look forward to you joining us at the Term Three Celebration Assembly on the first Monday of next term, Monday 16 at 1.30pm in the school hall. Due to the show pack up we have to move this to next term.
