Spring is upon us and it's no different in the art room with Casebrook students artwork blossoming!
Term three has seen the beginning of a new tech rotation for both the year 7 & 8's and art extension groups, all whom are creating some stunning work.
The year 7s have been exploring the fundamental elements of art. Not only have they learnt the core elements of art like line, colour, texture and shape but they have also created some inspired abstract art works by mixing up secondary and tertiary colours. Their work with line has seen them developing different types of line. Students picked descriptive words from a hat and had to create lines for each word... who knew lines could be bubbly, adventurous or even spicy!
The year 8s have begun a print making unit and the initial prints are as stunning as the blossoms outside the art room. So far we have created prints using potatoes and cardboard but are looking forward to moving onto lino and woodcut printing methods.
The art extension class have been looking at Christchurch born artist Francis Upritchard and her character sculptures. They have begun creating 3D character sculptures of their own which we hope will be ready in time to display at Creativity Plus.
