On Thursday the 10th of August some of the Casebrook students went skiing and snowboarding. All of the kids arrived at school at 6:30am. They left at 7:15 to go skiing and snowboarding at Mt Hutt. One of buses that the students were on caught fire. It happened on the Mount Hutt access road when they were going up the road. The bus was struggling to get up the hill and the engine got so hot that the wood caught fire and made the bus fill with smoke.
We interviewed Mr Leys and asked were you nervous?. He said “I was nervous for the kids and their safety, and how we were going to get home”. We asked the bus driver if something had ever happened to the bus and the bus driver said “I have been driving this bus for 35 years, and nothing had ever happened to this bus”.
