Super Rugby, Semi Final 1, 2017, Crusaders v Chiefs
On the evening of Saturday 29 July, the Crusaders hosted the Chiefs at AMI Stadium in Christchurch for the first Super Rugby semifinal. The Crusaders were victorious with a final score of 27-13.
The Crusaders scored the first try from a breakaway finished by Bryn Hall. Unfortunately for the Chiefs their first try by Tim Nanai-Williams was denied by the TMO. So at halftime the score was tight at just 10-6.
Some superb defence by Richie Mo’unga led to an amazing Israel Dagg try after the break. Seta Tamanivalu went into “Beast Mode” for the next phase of the game. After being held up over the line, he went on to score two raging back to back tries.
The Chiefs finished with a consolation try to Brodie Retallick which brought the final score up to 27-13.
We think the Crusaders played intelligent, strategic rugby showing stupendous teamwork and deserve their place in the final. Travelling to South Africa will be tough but we have confidence that they can come through victorious.
