Tama Tū, Tama Ora is a programme to help Year 8 boys with their reading and writing. It is run by the marvellous Mr McBride in Room 15.
There are two groups called Tama Tahi and Tama Rua, the groups go for half a day on Wednesday and Thursday and then meet up at 11:45am to compete against each other. Some of the sports we have played are jedi dodgeball, rugby league, mad soccer, ball rush and many more.
We also do hands on activities like how to change a tyre and then we write about how we did it. We have also done a sports report on State Of Origin match one.
We decided to interview one of the boys who attend, here is what Tuhoe Taylor had to say…
Q: “What is the coolest part about going to Tama Tu, Tama Ora?”
A: “Being active around the room and playing sports”.
Q: “Do you think this is helping with your reading and writing? If so, how?”
A: “Yes, because Mr McBride helps us through our work and teaches us new stuff every day.”
Q: “What is your least favourite part of Tama Tu, Tama Ora”?
A:”When the group time ends either at the end of the day or after the activity.”
Sadly for Year 8 boys Tama Tu, Tama Ora ends at the end of Term Two and the Year 7 boys get a turn.
