Kieran and I are student leaders, and our job is to work with other people to make Casebrook Intermediate better for students here.
At the start of the year, we had to choose someone to be the class counselor. I didn’t think of wanting to become the class counselor but Kieran persuaded me to and so I was chosen to represent Room 12. I think I was chosen because people told me I showed leadership and believed I was a good leader.
As the class counselor I had to have meetings with the class to collect people’s ideas for the school and find out about any issues people had and improve them. Every Tuesday, the Student Leaders had to have a meeting together and share their ideas that they got from their class. The student council has also organised events such as the Cancer Society Mufti Day and Crusaders vs Lions mufti day, and lots more.
Being house leader in 2017 has been a fun start, but we still have the busier half of the year to do our job as well as the other seven house leaders. We have to lead assemblies and hand out REP badges to people that have earned them. REP stands for Respect, Excellence and Perseverance. When students show these values they will get a REP card, and if you get 30 REP cards for each value you will have achieved a REP badge. As a house leader I also do REP spin to win which is like a raffle but it's with the student’s REP cards. If you were the lucky person who wins you would get a prize such as a sport ball, $5 canteen voucher, chocolate and much more.
