Finger prints, burning fabric and blood splatters.
This science semester has our Year 8 students developing the scientific skills and knowledge required to assist with the solving of crimes. So far students have learnt about the shape of finger prints, their unique features, and how to dust for and lift prints.
Students have also observed and analysed the way different fabrics burn. This has helped them determine the type of fabric that has been left behind at a crime scene.
Currently, students have been looking at what story blood splatters can tell us. We've looked at recreating splatters from different drop heights and angles. Students will be able to determine the height and angle at which a blood splatter may have occurred.
