Here are some commonly asked questions from students and whānau of Year 6 students.

How does Casebrook care for the wellbeing of my child?

We have a commitment to ensure all students who attend our school are engaged in their learning. Our teaching and management teams work extremely hard to ensure their student has a voice and are supported. Our Learning Support Coordinator, Mark Russell, is a specialised teacher who works with students and their families to ensure needs can be supported.

How do we organise our Year 7 classes?

Casebrook works very closely with contributing primary schools, family/whānau and the student to ensure they get the best possible start to their two years with us. Before starting at Casebrook the following will have taken place:

  • Parents are invited to attend a family meeting with our senior leaders

  • Students are tested for wider creative and critical thinking skills

  • Student achievement data from Year 6 is analysed

  • Interviews are held with primary school teachers if possible

What is the first day at Casebrook like?

After an interview with their new teacher, Year 7 students need time to settle into their new school. They have the first day without Year 8s to learn about routines and the opportunities available to our students and start new friendships.

What does ʻmodern learningʻ look like at Casebrook?

We believe that emerging adolescents need one dedicated teacher to support them and ensure they reach their potential. At times, classrooms will also work collaboratively with other classes and specialist teachers. Wider learning opportunities are integrated through specialist programmes to support the core curriculum areas, as well as a diverse range of extra-curricular groups. Casebrook is the school of opportunity to ensure that students are developing as engaging and well rounded individuals.
