Minecraft Competition at the Innovation Expo

We had two teams in the Minecraft Competition on the last day of term and both performed admirably.

Over the term we have had two teams working diligently to prepare for the E-Sports competition at Te Pae.

The teams were Hunter, Mitchell, Jack, & Jay, and Isla, Elizabeth, Paige, & Aarya. Both teams have been preparing their builds over the last few weeks and we had Minecraft specialist and event organiser, Wilj Dekkers come in and spend a session with the teams to assist in their development. Unfortunately on the day of the competition, Isla went home unwell and her team had to perform with only three team members. It is a credit to the team the way they were able to continue and still come up with an impressive build despite only being at 3/4 strength.

At the tournament there were two sessions of 20 minutes each with a break of 20 minutes in between. During the break and before the competition we took the time to view the many stalls and exhibits at the Innovation Conference. There was a wonderful array of options and the students got to try some of the latest technology innovations. There may have also been free lollies at some of the stalls but we wouldn't know anything about that!

One of the strengths of our teams was the way in which everyone worked together to achieve the desired result. This collaboration was evident in both teams and the REP that everyone showed at the tournament was exemplary.

The hard work, positive attitude and dedication was recognised through Hunter, Mitchell, Jack, & Jay winning the competition! Speaking to Wilj after the event he said that their build was the one all of the judges were talking about and it was a clear winner. A big congratulations to them for their efforts and a big thank you to both teams for doing us proud as a school.
