Marcus Akuhata-Brown and a team of inspiring young leaders spent Wednesday morning with us. We started with a whole school assembly where Marcus shared details of his personal journey through his school years and as a young man. The group then spent time working with classes and with our young leaders. The emphasis was very much on the value of believing in your personal worth, setting goals and working hard to achieve those goals. Also important was recognising the consequences of the choices we make. The take home message from Marcus was, 'If it is to be, it is up to me.'
Please note in your calendar the annual PTA Dance Party will be held next Thursday. This is in the school hall and details are later in this newsletter. Please encourage your child to attend as it is an enjoyable night for all.
The PTA chocolate fundraiser has been a great success. Thank you all for your support. The profits will go towards a stage lighting system for the hall. Currently we hire lights for our production and it adds a huge cost to the event that we will be pleased to see reduced.
Last night two teams of students took part in the ODT Spelling Quiz. It was a great experience for the students and I thank Rachael Cooper and Bev Bell for supporting them.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us.
