State of Origin, Game 1, 2017
On the evening of 31 May 2017, New South Wales (NSW) hammered Queensland (QLD) at Suncorp Stadium. The final score was 28-4.
The first try of the game was scored by James Maloney of NSW. Tries were also scored for NSW by: Mitchell Pierce, James Tedesco, Andrew Fifita and Jarryd Hayne. Maloney converted four out of the five tries. Corey Oates was the first and only try scorer for QLD.
Two players suffered heavy head knocks. Both Anthony Milford (QLD) and Mitchell Pierce (NSW) retired early. The skillful attack and powerful defense of NSW kept QLD out of reach throughout the game.
In our opinion this was a fantastic performance by NSW after many years of disappointment. They lead the series 1-0, let’s see what will happen in Game 2!
