Mana Tamaiti Pasifika

On Tuesday 19th of March some of our Pasifika and Māori Year 8 students took part in Mana Tamaiti at Fale Eke, run by Tagata Moana Trust.

This session saw the students look at traditional symbols and digital design to create printed tote bags and laser cut artworks. This initiative gets our students to look at STEAM and how it could be a potential career pathway.

Theo Stowers of Room 2 took part in this experience and loved it. He enjoyed learning about his culture, and being in a space where he could ask questions and put his culture into art. He thought the laser cutter was fun.

Next term this group will be participating in a day of digital creation at Te Kura Mareko.
