The true history of New Zealand is largely unknown and there is a call for accurate information about how New Zealand came to be.
Our Academic Term focused on Mātauranga Māori and the untold story of Pacific Navigation. This was taught across our whole school with each class being asked to produce something to represent their learning.
There was a range of artefacts that were produced - from scale models, coding, MineCraft creations, paper mache, sewing, right through to 3D printing. The breadth of knowledge and understanding across our school was epic.
The artefacts were on display in TPW on Friday, where we had a huge turn out of our whānau community come in and see the learning that had been happening in Academic Term 1.
This unit ties into the Aotearoa New Zealand History curriculum and we as a school will continue to unpack these topics of learning.
