We have international students visiting from China, South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan.

Te Kura Mareko has the privilege to host international students from overseas. We have interviewed Xiaoyan Yu in Room 11 to hear her experience being in New Zealand.

What is your opinion about New Zealand?

The environment is really good and much better than China. People made it a really good environment and Kiwi people are really polite.

How have you adjusted to New Zealand cuisine?

I have tried the chips and fried fish. I love that I always go to the supermarket to get food and go home and cook them.

Are there any attractions you would like to visit here?

Yes I went to Kaikōura, it was really cool, the whales were nice. I loved all the parks here. I love museums and I loved the Antarctic Centre.

Do you find New Zealand interesting?

Yeah the houses and the house and the place where we are staying is cool.

Have you been to restaurants yet?

I went to a restaurant in Kaikōura and I went to a fish and chips shop.

Are you staying with any of your friends while in New Zealand?

I came with Alice, my friend.

How was the plane ride over?

We flew to Auckland and then came to Christchurch.

Are you enjoying Casebrook life? Tell us what it is like.

The schooling is very laid back, it's better than China. We can come to school at 8:40 but in China you have to be there at 7:40am and it finishes at 8.00pm.
