Leo Chai from Room 9 took part in a swimming competition on the weekend of August 2nd-4th 2024.
The event was the 12+ Vikings Battle of Ages at the Selwyn Aquatic Centre. He participated in five events and placed first in three of them! His best event was the freestyle events in 50, 100 and 200 metres. He also came second in the 100m Individual Medley and the 50m backstroke.
I went and interviewed Leo to hear what he had to say about the competition.
Dominik: What was enjoyable about the race?
Leo: The thing most enjoyable was being able to compete against other competitive swimmers and being able to beat them.
Dominik: When did you start swimming?
Leo: I started swimming at the age of 6 but started competitive swimming when I was 9.
Dominik: What was your finishing time on each event?
Leo:
100m Freestyle=1:02
200m Freestyle= 2:19
100m IM =1:20
50m Backstroke = 1.35
50m Freestyle: 1.29
Dominik: What is your best event?
Leo: My best event was the 100M freestyle.
