Ski Trips

Last Wednesday the 7th August, eight classes boarded the three buses up to Mount Hutt for a ski trip.

We had to get to school at 6.30 am so we could make the most of the day. The bus ride was long and windy; sometimes we were on the mountain's edge. When we arrived at the ski area we put our stuff down and got out some food. The weather was good for skiing, although it was a little windy. After a while, we were told to go downstairs and collect our gear.

Then came our lesson, whether you were snowboarding or skiing you were put in a small group and taken to a very small hill. After the instructors showed us how to use our skis or snowboards we got to go on the “Magic Carpet”. The magic carpet is like a conveyor belt but for people! The magic carpet would take you to the top of a slightly bigger and longer hill. You were able to practise stopping and starting with your instructor there.

Afterwards, it was lunchtime then we had free time! During free time you were able to go anywhere you wanted within your ability. Time flew by and before we knew it, it was time to go home. After returning our gear we were able to board the bus. It took a wee while to get going in the buses because there had to be chains put on the wheels because it was so icy. Halfway down the mountain, we stopped, a car had started spinning but it was over quickly and we were on our way. We arrived back at school around 5.30 pm.

It was a great day. Ski trip round two happened yesterday and it sounds like everyone had a fantastic time.
