Tēnā Koutou Katoa - Welcome to Casebrook Te Kura Mareko for Term One 2024

By Sharon Keen | Posted: Wednesday February 7, 2024

A very warm welcome to all families that are joining us for the first time and to those returning with either a Year 8 or another family member. We have had a great start to the year and so a thank you to all our families for ensuring this was possible .

For the first three weeks of the term we have a group of Korean students experiencing life in New Zealand.  They are split amongst our classrooms and home stayed in our community.  Thank you to families that are hosting.  The experience is a valuable one for our visitors and our students and, at the same time benefits the school.  As the world opens up after COVID the number of requests we are having from International groups is increasing and so from time to time we will be looking for families to host them.  Please consider this if you are interested. We also have a group of twenty Korean teachers visiting and they too are hosted in our classrooms.  They are here for two weeks.

On Friday our first Year 8 camp heads over to Wainui.  When Year 8's reflect at the end of the year this camp is considered one of their most valuable experiences and as such we work hard to ensure all can attend.  If you have a child in Year 8 and require assistance with camp please contact me or the classroom teacher. Year 7 students start their activity days next week.  These are fun days designed to help our students get to know their class mates and teachers.

In week four and five many of our additional extension and enrichment activities start.   Please help your child become involved in what interests them.  You can do this by encouraging them to take part and also by checking the daily notices on our website or the school app. Much of the information around meetings is listed on Sunday and so they can be well prepared for the week ahead.

This year we welcome Miss Renee Kake as a Deputy Principal,  Mr Scott Lawson into the Hard Materials Room and new to our classrooms are Miss Meg Lancaster, Miss Frankie Richards, Miss Aleisha Nicholson, Mr Inga Solofuti and Mrs Gemma Williams.
