On February the 5th, the Year 8's and staff of Casebrook Intermediate welcomed the new students and their families to our school.
Thank you to the many family and whānau members who were able to join us on Monday as we officially welcomed all the new members to our community.
As the Year 7’s, their families and new teaching staff entered the hall, the Kapa Haka group performed their well-practiced Haka Powhiri while Whaia Tania, our Kapa Haka tutors, made a karanga, a welcoming call, to invite the new students into the hall. The point of this performance was for the students to get a taste of what Kapa Haka was like and to set a mood for the mihi whakatau, the welcoming ceremony.
Thank you to Mr Foster who spoke on behalf of the tangata whenua. Mr Solofuti responded on behalf of the manuhiri and both speakers were outstanding.
A big thank you also to Matua Willie and Whaia Tania our wonderful kapa haka tutors.
We look forward to a positive year ahead with our new students and community members.
