On Thursday the 23rd of November the Tōtaranui Kāhui Ako Cultural Festival was held at Casebrook Te Kura Mareko Intermediate School.
The participating schools were: Bishopdale Primary School, Cotswold Mātāhae Primary School. Papanui Primary School, Redwood Primary School, Te Kura O Matarangi Primary School, Te Kura Mareko Casebrook Intermediate School and Papanui High School.
There was lots of kai for us to try like fried bread, chop suey, burgers, sausages, snow cones, ice cream, candy floss, and more!
We interviewed some of the students who participated in the Cultural Festival from Te Kura Mareko Casebrook Intermediate and here is what they said:
Cassidy (Pasifika): I liked being able to share with the community what we have been working on
Tom (Kapa Haka): It was really fun performing on stage and a great experience. My favourite part was the food.
Sammi (Korean Dance): A challenge we faced in Korean dance was it was very windy and it was hard to open my fans and close them. But I felt very glamorous onstage performing.
Thanks to the school staff and people who helped put the evening together. Everyone had a fabulous time performing for the community and the kai was delicious.
