Tēnā Koutou Katoa - Term 4 is off to a Great Start.

Term 4 is now well underway and promises to be a busy term with a range of activities and events for our students to participate in and enjoy.

Last Thursday, two of our students, Tom Gainsford and Ben Stribling, competed in the inter-intermediate speech competition at Cobham Intermediate. Tom was awarded 2nd place for his humorous speech on 'Annoying Things Parents Do'. It was a great night with lots of entertaining and informative speeches. Well done boys.

Tim Pamflett from World Vision is in our school over the next few weeks, taking lessons in all classrooms on climate change. The World Vision Climate Justice Workshop is a fun interactive session where students will look at the world around them, exploring how the impacts of climate change are affecting people living in the world’s toughest places. Students will gain leadership skills through practical and engaging activities and focus on creating solutions, rather than dwelling on hardships. We were offered these workshops because Casebrook Intermediate was identified as a top-performing school raising money for the 40-Hour Challenge. Well done to all our students who participated in this for their wonderful effort.

Tomorrow we will hold our annual school athletics day which was postponed due to the wet grounds, on Wednesday. We invite parents and whanaū to join us if you are able to. I would like to remind everyone that students should be wearing sun hats or caps. All Year 7 students should be wearing the Casebrook hat or cap this year and Year 8 students may wear a plain hat or cap without logos or writing on it.

Next Wednesday Tom Straker is taking a group of 20 students to McLeans Island to compete in the Huxster mountain bike relay. This is a three-hour relay where students can compete in teams, or singly, over three hours.

On Thursday we will be hosting 130 Year 6 students from our contributing schools. They will be participating in Ki o Rahi on the front field, working with Tom Straker and Eden Foster.

The first of two EOTC camps to Mt Cook will take place in Week 4, leaving school on Monday 30th October, and returning on Friday 3rd November.  Special thanks to Char Rennie for her organisation of this. Char Rennie and Eden Foster will be accompanying students on this first camp. The second camp will take place the following week with Shona Mckenzie and Mark Russell accompanying students.

Please note that next week our school assembly will take place on Wednesday afternoon instead of the usual Tuesday morning. This will allow our student leaders to prepare for the assembly, after the long weekend.

This is an exceptionally busy term so I do encourage you to keep the term calendar close by and if you have any questions, please just contact us.
