As the "So What" of our classes Inquiry; each group went through the rigorous task of creating a business and presenting it to the "Dragons" for approval.
Group ideas ranged from - self care products, delicious food and drink, carnival style games right through to candles, jibbitz and paint your own clay creations. The Market Day was held on Friday the 1st of September where groups sold their goods.
Each group was given the option to take a $20 start up loan (that had to be paid back). They had to present their idea to the Dragons with business plans, marketing ideas, budgets, business values, mission statements and market research to be completed as well.
Once the Market Day was underway it was a flurry of sales and excitement as the Te Kura Mareko Casebrook Community got behind Whatukura and made the day a success.
At the conclusion of the day, money was counted - loans paid back and a 25% cut to charity as part of their social action, and then profit (or loss) was made.
We raised over $200 for charities chosen by our class that will be donated later next week.
Thanks to our whānau who also provided support for the class and to our school community for purchasing the products.
