Casebrook had two teams competing at the Minecraft E-Sports event this week and both teams came up with wonderful builds, with one team winning the Team Work award!
Over the term we have had two teams working diligently to prepare for the E-Sports competition at Te Pae. The teams were Sammi, Mya, Sophia, & Alice, and Patrick, Isaac, Hunter, & Sahil. Both teams have been preparing their builds over the last few weeks and we had Minecraft specialist and event organiser, Wilj Dekkers come in and spend a couple of sessions with the teams to assist in their development.
At the tournament there were two sessions of 30 minutes each with a break of 30 minutes in between. During the break and after the competition we took the time to view the many stalls and exhibits at the innovation conference. There was a wonderful array of options and the students got to try some of the latest technology innovations. There may have also been free lollies at some of the stalls but we wouldn't know anything about that! As well as trying a range of activities we also got to watch a live drone light show in which Isaac got to control the colours of the drones just by waving his hand across the colour spectrum on a screen. It was most impressive.
One of the strengths of our teams was the way in which everyone worked together to achieve the desired result. This collaboration was evident in both teams and the REP that everyone showed at the tournament was exemplary. This was recognised through Patrick, Isaac, Hunter, & Sahil winning the Team Work award at the tournament. A big congratulations to them for their efforts. If there had been two team work awards, I'm confident Sammi, Mya, Sophia, & Alice would have picked up the other. A big thank you to both teams for doing us proud as a school.
