Mr Stribling is the classroom teacher for Room 14 at our school and he is also the Yr 8 coordinator.
Mr Stribling was born in Lower Hutt in Wellington, but he only lived there for about two months. He then moved to Christchurch where he lives now. He went to Fendalton Primary School, Cobham Intermediate and Christ College. He studied management and marketing at the University of Canterbury, after which he went to the NZ Graduate School for Education in order to become a teacher.
In his job he is in charge of the Yr 8 teaching team as well as teaching his students. Joking, he said that he tortures children and teaches them if they're lucky. His favourite part of his job is being in the classroom teaching students and of course the well deserved holidays. He also loves the canteen and being able to cook in the food room. He has a mini kitchen of his own in his classroom, which the students get to use.
He said “I love eating, cooking and playing cricket”. He eats and cooks because he gets hungry from all his hard work, also because his family like to cook with him. He likes playing cricket because a lot of his family play it. Some significant events he recalls are travelling for one year in the UK, then three-four years overseas, getting married and having children. Also starting teaching. He liked travelling because he got to explore the world and see cool places. He also got to meet people that he is still friends with today.
As a kid Mr Stribling had always wanted to be a teacher, so having a job that he wanted makes it more enjoyable. He remembers as a kid never really having to set goals, but becoming a teacher became one for him. He doesn't have any heroes either but he did look up to his parents.
Mr Stribling, enjoys working at Casebrook and we are sure that the canteen is one of the highlights for him. Mr Stribling is a really fun teacher so if you or your child get him as a teacher be prepared for a year full of fun, food and loud instruction!
