Casebrook students were invited to attend the Interface Expo to demonstrate their robotic skills.
As a follow up to the article we had in Interface magazine earlier in the year, we were asked if some of our students could attend the Interface Expo at Lincoln to demonstrate the Sumo robotics battles.
Mrs Tank took eight students down in the van and they met me there where we set up amongst the other businesses on display. We felt privileged being the only school invited. We were right next to the Ministry of Education stall so we were in good company!
The students had spent time the day before building their robots so all that remained was the testing and battling. Of course, no student is ever completely happy with their initial build so there are always modifications and improvements to be made. Sumo robots are a wonderful way to have students wanting to follow this technology process. While the expo delegates moved round the various stalls and displays they were impressed by what our students were doing and achieving.
A big thanks to Kate, Hayley, Jai, and Isabella - from Room 1, and Cole, Stirling, Payam and Max N. from Room 2. They had a great day and not only did they put on a great show but displayed excellent REP as well. A number of the stalls had free lollies and pens to give away and the stall holders were very generous with the students, further adding to the enjoyment of it all. It was a worthwhile day out and we appreciate being selected to attend.
