In Whatukura this week we took time to reflect and remember ANZAC day and the importance it has on our history.
To demonstrate our understanding of this event we were taken back in time through letters, diary entries and photos from the war at Gallipoli. From this we had to create two poems to demonstrate the feelings, emotions or experiences that someone who had something to do with the war might have had.
We were taught how to write haiku, sonnet, ciniquain and diamante poems and then chose two for ourselves to write about. These poems got us really thinking about the hardships the soldiers, and those back home may have faced.
Below is a selection of some of the poems we wrote, they can also be viewed on the Whatukura SeeSaw page as well.
