Last week fifty-one students travelled to Queenstown to perform in four locations during Queenstown Winter Festival.
We had a wonderful journey down due to recent snowfall – picturesque scenery as far as the eye could see! Our first performance was on the waterfront at Earnslaw Park. The Casebrook Singers and Specialist Dancers did a stellar job but the -7 degree temperatures (felt like -12 according to Metservice) made playing instruments challenging. Our second performance was in the Gibbston Valley Wine Cave – this was a lot warmer and the acoustics were incredible. We finished off our first performance day with a swim at the local indoor aquatic centre to warm up. Our second performance day began with a trip up the gondola. After an awesome performance up top we all got to luge, which was so fun! We were also invited to stay and perform again during peak lunch time traffic. Back on the bus, we were off to our final performance location – the International Airport. This was a great spot to perform. To round off the trip we made our way back into town for some night-time outdoor ice-skating.
An awesome trip where great memories were made! Well done to all of the students for their consistent REP throughout the tour and a special thanks to the staff and parent helpers for their efforts.
