We are now halfway through Term 1. The Year 7 students have settled in well and the Year 8 students are modelling what it means to be a Casebrook REP.
The Year 7 activities are almost completed with just a couple of classes to complete their surfing day. The Waltham Pool visit was a huge success and the weather played its part. Unfortunately the weather hasn't been as kind to the Year 8 campers which means some of the camps have been postponed. All the camps will take place before the end of term. Thanks to all the parent helpers who have enabled these activities to occur.
Student engagement at Casebrook remains one of the key student targets. Students who do not feel connected to the school, with their peers or an adult, have a greater chance of disengaging from learning. Extracurricular involvement can be the gateway to being connected or reconnecting with school and learning overall.
Many of the extracurricular activities are now underway or students are beginning to opt into these. Please have a discussion with your child about what they are wanting to get involved in. There is a list of extracurricular activities that Casebrook offer on the school website.
Staff that are represented by the NZEI and PPTA are currently negotiating new contracts. The Casebrook Staff and BOT would like to thank you for your ongoing support with these actions. We realise that the possibility of strike action is a considerable inconvenience for families. Please be aware that the over-riding aim for this action is for teaching to become a better supported and resourced profession which enables teachers to provide more for children.
If you have any questions or concerns do not hesitate to contact the classroom teacher or the staff in the office.
