Thank you to all of our community for making the start of this year a very positive and enjoyable experience.
All of our students, returning Year 8s and our new Year 7s have arrived ready to become involved in our learning environment. Uniforms are looking smart and our young people are excited for the year ahead.
This term we welcome Alana Pulman and Will Kirk to the staff. We look forward to working together.
The first Year 8 class will head out to camp at Wainui next week and from there other classes will follow. Our Year 7s will start their activity days that include surfing, a Port Hills trek and a day at Watham Pool. Thank you very much to all the parents that have signed up to accompany the camps or the trips, they can not happen without your support. If you have any questions about the activities please do not hesitate to contact me or the classroom teacher. We really want all our students to be able to take part and can help with this, as they set the tone for the year ahead.
We understand that at times you will have concerns or questions about situations and so encourage you to make contact with us. Many issues are easier to rectify if they are dealt with early. On the same note classroom teachers will be in touch if they have questions or concerns. We value close communication and please feel welcome to drop in at any time.
This year we are having a real focus on attendance. During the past years you have been encouraged to keep your child at home if they feel a little unwell, now we really want them at school and if the issue persists we will have them in the sick bay and contact you. Regular attendance is so important for learning and social development. There is further information in the body of this newsletter that I encourage you to read.
If you have not done so, please download our school app. This is our main means of communication. You can access our daily notices, in advance and so ensure your child is prepared for upcoming events.
It was great to see so many of our community at the Mihi Whakatau, a welcome to all new members of our community.
Again, thank you for supporting us and your child, we really do look forward to a successful year ahead and I look forward to meeting you.
