Sports Academy Surfing Trip

On Monday the 28th of November the Sports Academy travelled out to Sumner Beach for a surf trip.

The Sports Academy got to learn the basics on how to surf safely, what to look out for in the water and how to catch waves at the right time. Mr Straker, the sports coordinator organised this trip for the Sports Academy team, allowing the group to try a new sport and practise surfing the waves. 

The Sports Academy arrived at Sumner beach at 10:00am, ready to learn from the instructors at the Sumner Surf Club. By the afternoon, the instructors challenged some of the students to stand on their board for five seconds to receive a prize. Many of the students attempted the challenge and succeeded. 

The Sports Academy learned to stand up and balance on their boards and what to do when a wave is about to hit your board. It was an incredible experience that the team will never forget.
