Tēnā Koutou Katoa - Spectacular Display

By Sharon Keen | Posted: Wednesday November 23, 2022

Last week our Technology and Specialist teachers displayed a range of work completed by students during the year. This display was enjoyed by our current students and those who will be joining Casebrook in 2023. A special thank you to all staff involved, both in the display and welcoming new families and whānau into our school.

Additional to the evening of meeting new students and their families we have hosted students who are joining us from schools outside of our normal zone.  This has allowed them to spend time in our school with the aim of making the transition as smooth and worry free as possible.  We all appreciate that moving schools can be a challenge but hope familiarity will make the prospect exciting.

This week was the last of Hagley Sport for this year.  There are still a number of events for specific codes but for the majority of our students sport will be school based.  Thank you to parents who have helped with coaching and if this is something you are interested in being involved with next year please contact Tom Straker, tstraker@casebrook.schoo.nz.  Help is always appreciated.

Last weekend our Rock Band performed at Celebrate Bishopdale, a great community initiative as well as providing a live audience for our students.  We also had our Specialist Dancers perform at Whakaoho at Papanui Youth Development Trust.   Again a great community event.  Thank you to Sam Broad and Kristen Sherwin for making this happen.

Congratulations to Lauren Dick-McCann, Char Rennie, Anna Kerr and Trina Wilkinson for successfully completing level one Te Ahu o te Reo Māori ki Ngāi Tahu 2022. This was an initiative they chose to pursue as part of their professional development.

Thank you to our team of Teacher Aides, lead by Mark Russell for the work they are doing in transitioning students into Casebrook and those moving into Year 9.  The extra effort ensures students learning will begin as seamlessly as possible.

The term is passing very quickly and soon we will be looking at celebrating the many successes our young people have had during the year with formal and celebration assemblies.  Please make note of the dates and ensure your child can attend, with you if possible. It is our opportunity to acknowledge so many and it is important for them to be part of it.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns as we prepare for the end of this year and the start of 2023.
