On Thursday 4th of November, some of our Casebrook netball players got a behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming Fast5 Netball competition being held at Christchurch Arena.
The opportunity came about after one of our netball parents emailed our Sports Coordinator and our name was drawn out of the ballot alongside three other schools.
When we arrived at Christchurch Arena we were seated court side and met the woman who invented the shortened version of netball known as Fast5. Students were given a bit of an introduction to the game and were then asked questions to check what they had remembered. Those students who answered questions correctly won spot prizes.
Following the introduction, students were then given a behind-the-scenes tour. They visited the media lounge, changing rooms, and players lounge. While this was happening, the South African team was on court doing their first training session before the tournament. Our girls were surprised at how tall some of their players were. Once they had finished training the girls were able to head out on court for some shots and a couple of quick photos.
The students all enjoyed their day and some were lucky enough to leave with a netball they had won for answering some questions.
