Cairo Horgan was one of the students competing at the CAIMS swimming competition on Tuesday, the thirteenth of September. Here's his story of it!
The competition was held in a proper full-length swimming pool, which Cairo thought when he entered the facility, would take most swimmers about 25 seconds to swim.
Cairo’s favourite moment during the swimming competition was when the relay team came third place. This was against some really good swimmers from schools all around Christchurch. Cairo said there were around 75 people, all with different skill levels, there to compete for their school. The competition lasted till 12:30, lasting around three or four hours. This was Cairo’s main downside, in that after his swims he had to sit and watch the others! However, it was nice to cheer on the other Casebrook swimmers. Cairo is very proud of what he did at the CAIMS swimming, after some initial reservations, and would probably do it again.
