At Casebrook we have been having a lot of sports trials over the last couple of weeks.
Some of the sports trials are hockey, basketball, football, netball, table tennis, badminton, and more. Sport is a big part of our Casebrook culture because it keeps us kids healthy and active in a way that is fun for everyone. We are starting to get prepared for Hagley sports starting in a couple of weeks, in which many of these sports are involved in.
We interviewed Miss McKenzie, who took the hockey trials. Here are her answers.
Q1 - Roughly how many students trialed for hockey?
In hockey, there were approximately 50 students who signed up. We had three trials that took place over a couple of weeks.
Q2 - What do you think about hockey?
I think hockey is the best sport ever. It is a game that requires lots of thought and strategy. It is really fun and you can be aggressive while playing fair.
Q3 - Was it hard to choose your squad?
It was really hard to choose the players for the hockey teams as we have two teams but lots of wonderful trialists.
Q4 - Why did you want to take hockey?
I wanted to take the hockey team because I play the sport myself and I love coaching the game to students. I also think it is great to attend Hagley sports and the competition that comes with it.
Q5 - If you were to take another sport what would it be?
If I was to take another sport I would coach football again. I took a Hagley team when I first started teaching at Casebrook and loved it. Football is a great sport and similar to hockey in ways.
Q 6 - How many teams do you take?
We currently have a hockey squad that will make up two teams. There will be approximately seven in each team.
