This week we had the task of interviewing Jared Borea, in Room 5 about his swimming.
Jared got into swimming at a young age (about four or five). His parents did a bit of swimming when they were younger, so it was really natural for him to swim.
Jared does swimming squad training which is basically training for competitive swimmers and he also compete in swim meets where you can win medals and ribbons. His usual training routine is approximately 6-7 times a week for an hour and a half. He also participates in Jasi splash nights, where you can win up to one hundred dollars in prize money.
He enjoys swimming because he gets to be with his friends and coaches. Another reason Jared likes swimming so much is the intensity of the training. His motivation to keep going is to keep doing the best he can and always be improving. He said that it is always fun and you can always better your results.
Jared would definitely recommend swimming for someone looking for a new hobby or to keep fit. Some of Jared’s most recent achievements include making it into the junior champs, and swimming at the highest possible level for his age group. Jared's favourite saying is, "It’s not about what you’re doing, it’s about how you’re doing it”.
In conclusion, I think that Jared’s swim competitions are pretty interesting and that if anyone is looking for a new hobby, or if they want a way to keep fit, they should try swimming.
