On Monday the 8th of November some Casebrook students went to the Canterbury Duathlon.
A duathlon is a race where you begin with a 2km run, then you bike 9km, and finally a 1km run. It was located at Ruapuna Raceway on a perfect day for the race. Students did a great job representing Casebrook and pushed themselves. They were also really lucky to be able to participate as the event had been cancelled several times due to Covid.
We interviewed Joel Pulley, one of the students who took on the challenge about the race and here are his answers.
Did you feel nervous about the race?
Yes. When I arrived at the raceway I felt quite nervous until I started warming up.
How did you feel after the race?
I felt relieved but I also thought I could go out and do it again but slower.
How was the weather for the race?
The weather was great for the race because there was not a lot of sun and a nice breeze.
What place did you come?
I came 31 out of 80.
How long did it take you to complete the race?
I completed the race in 35 minutes and 26 seconds.
Were you happy with your placement?
Compared to the amount of training I did, I was happy with how I went.
