The Casebrook Production, “Mata’s Wish” has been a rocking show over the first week of term four.
Casebrook had the privilege to have many volunteers to be a part of the cast. We caught up with the main cast, Ari/Koro, Ruby/Mata, and Jessica/Nan. We asked them a few questions.
What was it like being a main part of the cast?
Ari: I had a daunting feeling at first but I got used to it.
Jessica: I found it fun because I got to interact with the cast members.
Ruby: Nerve wracking.
What was your favourite scene?
Ari: Tupuārangi.
Jessica: My favourite scene was when I got to say “Sheesh!”
Ruby: The last one.
What were you thinking when you were on stage?
Ari: It was nerve wracking at first but when I talked I got used to it.
Jessica: I was saying “It will be over soon” in my head. I was nervous and I was repeating my lines in my head.
Ruby: Getting all my words right.
Did you ever get nervous on stage?
Ari: Yes, I was shaking a lot backstage.
Jessica: Yes, every time I went on stage.
Ruby: Yeah.
Did you ever feel embarrassed about your costume?
Ari: Not too much, some people said that I fit my character really well.
Jessica: No, I thought it was funny that I could play as an old person.
Ruby: A little bit.
Did you ever doubt yourself?
Ari: At first I was a little skeptical but I became quite confident afterwards.
Jessica: I did but after I got used to it and it got better.
Ruby: No, not really.
