This fortnights REP focus is Respect in a Bully-Free Community.
This week is Say No to Bullying Week across New Zealand / Aotearoa. Bullying is a flash-point for discussion in our society. We all bring our own experiences and values to the table when it is discussed and dealt with.
At Casebrook, we are making bullying the focus of our REP programme this week in classes and will be learning about the importance of not being a bystander to bullying - instead being an ‘upstander’. That means calling out our friends or other classmates when they engage in negative stuff that makes us feel uncomfortable or we know shouldn't be happening.
We define bullying at our school - “Bullying is deliberate, harmful behaviour that is often repeated, or continues over a period of time. It often involves a power imbalance and it is difficult for those being bullied to defend themselves. Bullying takes place in the digital world too, through cyberbullying.”
We will be standing up to bullying together on Friday 21st May with a free non-uniform day for all who wear pink.
