Recently, Casebrook’s Kapa Haka group took a trip to the Tuahiwi Marae.
The group was welcomed in with five of the tangata whenua at the marae, introducing themselves to the group. During their time at the marae the Kapa Haka group learned a lot about the marae and its history. The Kapa Haka group was also taught about mythical Māori stories, including many gods like Papatuanuku and Ranginui. The group also introduced themselves with their own mihi. The marae also fed the group with many different types of foods, ranging from fruit to sweets. After learning the layout of the marae, the group also took a tour to the St Stephen's Church, and learned some facts about it.
Overall the Kapa Haka group really enjoyed the trip, some even left with new experiences in mind.
