Teach your child good personal hygiene habits that will help them feel good about themselves and stay healthy. Ways to stay "clean as"

There are about a million ways your child can feel self-conscious during their school years so it is important to maintain good personal hygiene for body image and social reasons. Poor hygiene can also cause health problems through the spread of infections, viruses and diseases.

Teach your child good personal hygiene habits that will help them feel good about themselves and stay healthy. Ways to stay "clean as"

  • Shower or wash all over every day with soap.
  • Brush your teeth twice a day.
  • Wear clean underwear and socks every day.
  • Take off your uniform after school and hang it up to air. Dead skin cells left on clothes get eaten by bacteria and this smells. Hanging them up in fresh air eliminates this.
  • Wash and dry your hands after going to the toilet and before eating.
  • Cough into an elbow and blow your nose on tissues.
  • Teach about sweat and how bacteria on your skin gobble it up, which creates a smell. Experiment with how baking soda can get rid of bad smells, e.g. in smelly shoes.
