Cupcake extension was held on a Wednesday afternoon. It was run in the foods room by Mrs Dick-McCann and Mrs Davanney. It is a great opportunity to have some fun and create a masterpiece.
It was a long process for each cupcake. First we researched ideas and got some inspiration. After we had decided our idea then we got to work, by getting some fondant and practising making some shapes and designs. Then we started to create our masterpiece. The group got their first colour and started to mold it to our first shape in the next lesson. After that the last weeks were spent mixing, molding and piecing together our cupcakes. Soon enough the day of the judging came. Everyone got a cupcake that was freshly baked by Mrs Dick-McCann and assembled their fondant creations on top of some buttercream icing. Finally they were done after around 7 weeks of hard work . We brought them over to the office and displayed them with cupcakes from Breens Intermediate for the judging.
Lucy Pratley is a participant in the extension and won one of the many awards. She won Originality First Place Prize after all her hard work and creating of her masterpiece. We asked her some questions about her cupcake and here is what she said.
What was the hardest part of making your cupcake? “The hardest part about making my cupcake was trying to get the fondant to stay on the top of the cupcake.” said Lucy.
Lucy said that her favourite part about making her cupcake was mixing colours of fondant together, making the final colour for her bubbles. She is most proud of the dog's face and the dogs ears. Lucy had a lot of fun creating her cupcake.
Every contestant worked hard to reach the final design. Well done to all participants and congratulations to the winners.
