On Monday the 30th of November and Tuesday the 1st of December, five students participated in a nation wide chess tournament.
This two day event consisted of seven games and three lectures. The tournament had multiple arbiters that help to keep the game fair and fun. In the finals there were 178 participants.
It was played on a website called Tornelo which has everything you need on it. As soon as you log into Tornelo and join the lobby there is a link to join the zoom room. There are also different tabs which show the matches playing and the scores in the rounds.
The Casebrook chess team placed 22nd with 11 points. There were 29 teams in the competition. The way that the points were given out was by a win or a draw. A win will give you 1 point a draw gives a half and a loss gives 0 and takes 0.
Alex Yao scored the most in the team scoring a total of 4 points. Alex Maule was the second to top in the team and scored 3. Alex Loader and Alizae both got 2 points and Jesse-James Breiter got 1. The way everyone got their points is given below.
