It's been another successful year at the annual Cantamath competition.
Well done to the Year 7 and Year 8 teams that competed at the annual Cantamath competition last night at Horncastle Arena. Once again there were over 90 teams competing in each year level competition.
The Year 7 team of Breanna Cottom, Luke Donaldson-Scott, Olivia Isitt and Josh Thomson scored a fantastic 55 points and the Year 8 team of Aiyana Almond, Azaria King, Petram Hassanian and Jack Taunt scored an excellent 85 points.
Congratulations also to the pupils who had work entered into the display part of the competition. There was a wide range of amazing posters, publicity motifs and models. Special mention must be made about the Year 8 technical maths groups who worked with Lauren Dick-McCann to create fabulous mathematical-based quilts and Paul Cook to create Tensegrity stools and chairs.
There were also a number of great results in the display part of the competition:
Dominic Pulley and Jack Taunt gained an excellence award for their amazing maths-themed quilt.
Toryn Adam, Daniel Black, Luke Carville, Yousif Nabi, Ben MacLennan and Diezel Winter-Hathaway were received a highly commended award for their Tensegrity furniture.
Tyra Snowden received a highly commended award for her mathematical poster and the Room 5 maths group also gained a highly commended award for their class project.
Well done to everyone who took part.
