Our Annual football competition between the staff and the Boys A team took an unusual twist this year by going to penalties!
If you look at the main photo it might be hard to tell who won this close run competition given that there were big smiles all round.
The game was soon very one sided with the boys taking the initiative and putting two very well crafted goals past our keeper (a borrowed student! James Tucker). The comments from the staff reflected the quality they were up against. There was all round admiration for the skill of the boys team. Nevertheless this was not helping the staff's cause. We got back on task with a stunning halfway goal from Mr Russell, that hit the post and bounced back in off the keeper's back! We were soon level and the game was really on. There was an unusual amount of fouling going on, and depending which side was doing it, the referee (Blake, another student) would call it out! Hats off to Mr Halaifonua who put in some tackles worthy of a rugby player and to all the boys who didn't shy away from meeting him on the ball!
Well, it went to penalties and after some shocking misses by both sides the boys took the game with a high class strike and left the staff with their heads in their hands yet again. Well done to the students for being good sports and showing the adults how it is done!!!! See you again next year.
