Over the past few weeks of isolation, I have been thoroughly impressed with the students in Room 5 and how engaged they have been with their learning. Here are some of our highlights.
Video chats in Room 5 have been very entertaining, we've had a theme most days. This can range from crazy hair to your best hat. We've even had pets interrupt and sit on keyboards. These have been a great opportunity for students to 'socialise' and catch up with their friends. We have also been doing a weekly quiz as another way to do something together.
Writing - The past two weeks we have used video prompts to support our writing. We have focused on producing descriptive writing and using a variety of sentences in our work. The first video we watched was called 'Poilus' and the second was called 'Once In A Lifetime'. I have attached some examples of the work for each video. Have a read of their writing and then watch the videos to see if they retold the story with enough description.
Reading - For reading we have had a 'War' theme for the past few weeks. We have read about ANZAC Day, children's lives during WW2 and even about Anne Frank. There have been some great discussions around this topic happening at home.
P.E and Health - For P.E and Health, students have picked from a range of challenges each week. Some can be challenges like throwing a weighted object as far as you can and others can be challenges like measuring how much water you drink over the course of 24 hours. Recently, we have added daily fitness to our timetable and have had students completing some circuit training. Students have found some of these quite difficult. This week, we are utilising our devices while out for some daily fitness and are mapping our route and keeping a log of that.
Digi Art - This was a project we started before going into isolation and some students have produced some amazing results. Check out their work in the photo gallery.
