Jock and Kym Parnham helping Casebrook students get Dog Smart
We had the great fortune of hosting the C.C.C. for the day and receiving the wisdom of their DogSmart programme through a presentation by Kym and her trusty rescue dog Jock. The students were introduced to some basic, but often overlooked, skills for how to greet a dog and take care of them on a day to day basis. The take away slogan 'If a dog's on its own, leave it alone' was regularly repeated to ensure the students really understood the importance of the message. We learnt how to approach a dog after asking the owner for permission, how to pet a dog safely by making a ball of our hand and how to clean up after our dogs when out and about.
Not only did we have the good fortune of having the presentation but we were also picked for one of the sessions to be filmed for a C.C.C. Newsline show. You can watch this by clicking the following link:

Many thanks on behalf of Casebrook to the C.C.C.'s Kelly Andrew (the organiser), Kirk Hargreave (the camera man and photographer) Kym Parnham (the trainer) and of course Jock the dog who was a great teacher and so well behaved.
Now you too can practise: 'If a dog's on its own...'
